ABOUT KING KOD

King Kod was founded in 2002 after I had spent 7 years working in and running family chip shops after graduating. These 7 years gave me the experience and knowledge to confidently set up a Fish and Chip shop independently. Now more than 20 years on I expanded to 2 more shops within Preston.

Right from the word go I realised that there a few basic principles that I need to adhere to, now nearly 30 years of frying fish and chips they stand firmer than ever.

Never compromise on the quality.

Always source the best and fresh raw products

Ensure all cooking and preparation procedures are robust and consistent

And maybe one of the personal traits, hygiene and cleanliness isn’t compromised, ever.

So how do we do it!

For our Chips

The potatoes we use are always the highest quality available to us, we never compromise on quality when it comes to our chips. We cut and fry our award-winning chips from seasonal potatoes, sourced from local farmers. Yes we peel and chip everyday in the morning at each shop.

For our Fish

We use sustainably sourced Icelandic cod or Haddock, freshly cut daily at each shop every morning. Over time we have switched to Fish sourced from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) approved sources, ensuring our commitment to sustainability.

Our Oil

We use the highest quality vegetable oil available to us on the market. We go one further, we have our waste oil collected which is then recycled and converted to bio diesel. This ensures we are reducing our impact on the environment as least as possible.

Our packaging

You will remember we have been using non polystyrene trays long before the government introduced a ban on polystyrene. All our packaging is recyclable.

My aim is for our future generations to enjoy fish and chips by reducing the impact we have on the environment now. This is only possible by the continued support we have enjoyed over the years. King Kod was founded in 2002, after I had 7 years of training in my uncle’s shop and assisting running my father’s shop. This equates to a whopping 29 years of experience!  

Since 2002, King Kod has become a very well recognised and trusted brand and successfully expanded within Preston. I have successfully and single-handedly run and managed 3 shops of my own with 2 shops currently operational. Over these past 22 years we have meticulously created and altered a business model which will promise to be highly profitable.
